Zoe Saldana: 'People of Color' Don't Exist
In a piece at Clutch magazine, Evette Dionne takes Zoe Saldana to task for saying, "There's no such thing as people of color," and suggests that she enroll in a Critical Race Theory class.
Actress Zoe Saldana has been inserting the proverbial foot in her mouth in recent weeks. The "Colombiana" starlet has been media blitzing for the upcoming "Star Trek Into Darkness" film and leaving a trail of disrespect in her wake. A fellow Clutch editor, Yesha Callahan, thinks Saldana needs a dictionary and a clue. I concur and also think she needs to enroll in an Introduction to Critical Race Theory course ASAP.
During an interview with BET, Saldana candidly discussed how she views race, alleging "there's no such as people of color."
South African Whites Question Their Future
In South Africa, apartheid has been over for two decades. So it's really no surprise that being white in the country feels different now from the way it did under the forced system of harsh, institutionalized racial segregation that curtailed the rights of black residents in favor or the ruling Afrikaaner population.
As the BBC's John Simpson acknowledges in a piece today, the legacy of apartheid means that white South Africans still have a disproportionate influence on the economy, politics and media and have far more wealth than their black counterparts. But Simpson, seemingly somewhat nostalgic for "the old days" when "the apartheid system looked after whites and did very little for anyone else," wonders whether they -- especially the working-class among them -- have a future in the country.
Look below the surface and you will find poverty and a sense of growing vulnerability.

Would you really want your pastor – and your congregation – to star in a reality television show?
I'm not knocking the six black pastors who have signed on for a new reality show on Oxygen called "Pastors of L.A." — a detailed look at the lives of men of God in Los Angeles.
But I do question why the pastors chose to participate in the show. Are they truly hoping to use the program to minister to those who need spiritual guidance? Or are they simply using the high-profile media platform to rake in more cash and bask in the spotlight of a national television audience?
